“Like a star fallen from some corner of the night — songwriting found me instead of the reverse," Batterson says. In 2012, he started working with with artists Dave Herrero and Felix Reyes on Dave’s album Corazón, released in 2013, on which S.R. Batterson wrote lyrics for many of the songs. Since then, he's written songs with Austin-based Paige DeChausse (and The Reverent Few) and others.Over the next decade, he developed songs and a style of his own.
