Curriculum Vitae

I grew up in a very creative surrounding.
My grandfather was painter, my grandmother sculptress, my father, Rosario Mayo d’Aloisio has worked for about thirty years as a set designer for the Italian Television (RAI), my mother Elsa Lintner has worked as programmes announcer in german radio.
I speak fluently Italian, German and English, since my mother has always talked to me in different languages.
I was born in Bolzano (Italy) were I have lived until I became eight years old and we moved to a very beautiful house in the Country- side near Rome.
This house is very important to me. I remember the summers I used to spend there as a child. It was such an incredible time, life quality was so much better there and the chaos turned into harmony. Time would suddenly stretch and was dedicated to many different artistically related activities. Every night there would be either theatre, musicals or jam sessions.
I myself started feeling very attracted to arts. I began taking classical dance lessons, writing poetry and songs.
Music to me is like breathing.
It doesn’t matter what mood I am in, what time of the day or night it is, where I am, when I feel the need to express something a melody starts humming in my head and I end up writing a song. It’s a therapy!
I started writing songs at the age of 13.
The guitar plays a very important part in my life.
I started playing it after I had “stolen” my parents record collection. Every day I would listen for hours and hours to great singer-songwriter such as Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen, Joan Baez, Joni Mitchell and Tracy Chapman. Completely absorbed by the strength and spontaneity of those great songs, I started to feel the need to express my feelings and they automatically turned into music.
However I wanted to take guitar lessons as well, and so I started to learn classical guitar at the age of thirteen.
My love for English-American music increased after I spent the summer in England.
Back in Italy I really wanted to start singing and playing the guitar in a band, which I decided to call “Nick-name”. We performed practically everywhere, on every occasion.
After compulsory education, I attended secondary school, specializing in scientific subjects.
I have spent my senior year in America where I have graduated. During this year I have been part of the "Cibola Performance Choir", performing pieces taken from Broadway shows, jazz and popular music in many different cities. At the same time I was singing in the "Mad-Jazz Ensemble", which was invited to sing during the concert in honour and memory of "Dr.Martin Luther King Jr.".
As a soloist I have participated at the "State Solo and Ensemble Music Festival”, taken part in the play "The taming of the shrew" and the musical "Finnian’s rainbow".
I was very lucky and was invited to the event "Grammy in the schools", connected to the Grammy Awards. Here I have attended the workshops "Careers and Tips for vocal performances" held by Faye Robinson and "Careers in song writing" held by Paul Colwell.
I have participated to every possible talent scout, proposing my songs and getting love and attention from theaudience.
The American experience has given me the possibility to improve my English and also get in touch with Spanish language.
Back in Italy I started taking singing lessons by Heidi Hörnlein, a very talented German singer and teacher.
With my band “Evil Tongues” I have taken part to many different events, among those a "Trofeo Talent Scout" where we presented the songs called “Unterwasser”, written in German.
In a very suggestive medieval castle, for the first time ever, I have played in front of an audience the song “Awakening”. It was a unique experience, since the place seemed to have been created for that song.
In Germany I took Jazz-singing lessons by Silvia Droste, teacher and jazz vocalist appreciated for her ability in improvisation.
I had the opportunity to visit the backstage of the musical "Buddy" and was fascinated by the way dancing, singing and acting work together .
Back in Italy I wrote the music for the musical called “Le voci della torre”.
I have graduated from the university of Rome "La Sapienza", where I have studied "Foreign Languages and Literatures", specialising in theatre and cinema.
I have taken guitar lessons by Maestro Maurizio Lazzaro and jazz singing lessons by Giuppy Paone.
At the same time, having won two scholarships, I have attended two courses for composition and for writing at the school "C.E.T.", founded by Mogol, a famous Italian songwriter.
To improve my knowledge of music I have taken piano and theory lessons for about two years.
At the same time I have kept performing with different bands, touring in Italy and also abroad (Germany, Austria and America).
Last November I was invited to perform at the “Jeff Buckley tribute concert”, which was held in Chicago.
It was a unique moment, performing for such a friendly and warm-hearted audience.
I have come back to Italy with a complete new spirit.
I want to do something positive and solid with my music!
Thank you all for sharing this dream with me and making it possible!!
