Conjunto is definitely a musical ensemble that interfaces the influences of traditional Latin rhythms with Jazz, Blues, Rock and the personal contributions of its members. Through the creation of this unique sound, Conjunto aims in making a contribution to the musical evolution of Latin Jazz. It performs the traditional Latin rhythms such as Guanguanco, Mambo, Cha Cha and Son on authentic Afro - Cuban percussion instruments. The roots of this music are Cuban, and indeed the Conjúnto lineup resembles a traditional Cuban Charanga ensemble of Piano, Timbales, Flute, Violins, Bass & other percussion. Conjunto is primarily an instrumental ensemble, but it can perform with vocals when desired. However, instrumental improvisation remains the primary virtue of this ensemble. | |
