Matt Lenny was born on a dairy farm in Upstate New York, grew up near Yale, and went to high school in Oklahoma. Add a poetry degree from Northwestern University and years in the rock clubs of Chicago and New York and you've got the strange mix of country and city, high-brow and low-down that comprises The Waiting Room, Matt Lenny's debut CD as a solo artist. Written in New York City and recorded in the hot summer of Chicago by Blaise Barton (Liz Phair, Bob Dylan) and Neal Ostrovsky (The Webb Brothers, The Bon Mots), this ten-song collection features Matt Lenny's distinctive voice and guitar playing backed by some of Chicago's top rock and country musicians. From the Stones groove of the opening track to the string-drenched nostalgia of the last--with pop, classic rock, and country in between--Matt Lenny's debut album, The Waiting Room is a wide-ranging introduction to a passionate young artist.
