Greg Combs
Artist/Songwriter/Singer, Greg Combs was born on a cold February night to an un-wed teenage mother. His adoptive family saturated his childhood with jazz piano lessons, garage sale guitars and Harry Chapin records. In college he began to write privately about issues of live, love and happiness, and perfected his songs and performances on the open mic scene fusing real world pain into his voice, with the simple honesty of conversation.
After several personal heartbreaks, setbacks, travels and live performances in Chicago, LA and NYC, Combs settled in the north side of Chicago where he writes and performs new material. Combs music dwells somewhere between folk and soul, with a post-alternative garage rock band edge. On Monday nights he hosts the nationally recognized open-mic at the Uncommon Ground Coffee House, nestled two blocks north of Wrigley Field, on Chicago’s north side.
“Tales from the Windy City”, his first produced record, is set to release this summer 2007, it is a composition of his life, travels and songwriting up to this point, as only a naïve and still learning and growing 23 year old can tell it.
