Originally from Chicago, Kris now lives and works in Los Angeles. She is grateful, however, to know what it’s like to live with actual changing seasons. Her earliest paintings of trees and leaves were inspired by the autumn and winter trees in the Midwest. To Kris, the bare trees looked like they were dancing, and this is what inspi red her to begin painting them. As she did so, they took on more meaning to her as self portraiture. Each one standing alone, but not lonely. Bare, not hiding, in movement. Like a dancer. Kris has had many jobs since graduating from art school: costume maker for ballet and opera designers, then a dance and theater costume designer herself. A fashion designer for years, Kris designed and produced women’s clothing and accessories for women and children under her own labels: Konfettikids, Bourgeois Rags, and Lemmingwear. She became a movie set decorator and art director, and also a photo stylist. She now works as an artist and clairvoyant. Kris began making paintings in 1990. She continues to work with the technique she discovered while still a student: Reverse Painting on Vinyl. Since 1990, Kris has made nearly 900 paintings using this media, shown her work from coast to coast, and sold most of them to her many collectors. Kris is a self representing artist. In 1999, Kris began to study Meditation, Healing and Clairvoyance. After graduating from the Clairvoyant Training at InVision in Chicago in 2000, she became a teacher there. Over the next six years, Kris taught many hundreds of students how to ground, begin to heal themselves, and turn on their own abilities. Learning this for herself has been the most important thing Kris has done in her life. Her art has changed much as a result; it has become more abstract, more about energy and spirit. Currently Kris is teaching again, for the first time since leaving Chicago in September 2006. She also has a clairvoyant reading practice, reading clients both in person in Southern California and long distance by phone. |
