Nancy Rost can make you laugh, cry and think -- sometimes all at once. Called "the love child of Tom Lehrer and Tom Waits" by KnowYourMusic.com, she has also been lauded for her improvisational performances. With a signature keyboard style both aggressive and lush, she brings a fresh sound to such conventional song topics as ice-fishing chic, the plight of airplanes painted to look like killer whales, and the secret lives of condiments. A versatile songwriter, she has won awards in jazz, pop-rock, blues, folk and comedy. Her songs have been covered at the Nashville Songwriters Festival, anthologized by the Madison Songwriters Group and the February Album Writing Month project, and even been the subject of a disco song. She currently performs solo and with the eclectic acoustic trio Likely Stories. |
