Chainsaw Dupont
Born in the Mississippi Delta in 1956, Chainsaw Dupont has lived a life that would be a blues cliche if it weren't true. He sharecropped and picked cotton as a child until his mother died tragically when he was 14, when he moved to Chicago with an older brother and began to seriously play guitar. He knocked around with various bands playing blues, country, reggae, and top 40, until getting the coveted role as blues legend Junior Wells' guitarist in the mid-90s. He began a solo recording career in 2003 with the release of "Lake St. Lullaby" an all-original collection of rugged Chicago blues. The follow-up, "Bourbon St. Breakdown", another set of 13 original songs, surprised many with its Louisiana rhythms. Critics have praised his respect for tradition as well as his musical innovation. |
