Kara Kulpa
Kara Kulpa is quickly making a name for herself in the Midwest folk circuit. Since the release of her demo EP, Any Given Day, in May of 2005, she has toured Midwest and East Coast as a solo act as well as in conjunction with various other artists. During the Spring of 2006, along a road which spanned from Boston to New Orleans, she collected a batch of live songs and self-produced a live mix, entitled Incomplete. To add to her collection, Kulpa has sat in as a violinist/mandolinist/vocalist on a slew of other records by artists including Shelley Miller, Amanda Sena and Dave Golden.
From Eddie's Attic to Tulane University, audience members have commented on Kulpa's level of enthusiasm and charisma during performances. House of Abundant Kindness House Concert Series said, "Kara Kulpa has a charm and personality that make you want to be her best friend..." She's also received critical acclaim for her seamless mastery of instruments. Segment of Society Productions called her, "...a master on the fiddle, mandolin and guitar."
Kulpa has showcased at festivals around the country, including the 2007 and 2006 National Women's Music Festivals, the 2006 Dewey Beach Americana Festival, the 2006 and 2005 Midpoint Music Festivals, the 2005 Midwest Music Summit and the 2005 Cutting Edge Music Business Conference. Along with performing solo, Kulpa regularly supports an eclectic list of acts, on several instruments, ranging from the violin to tambourine.
Currently, Kulpa is working as a Music Therapist (a field in which she earned her Bachelor's Degree from Illinois State University, in 2006) in Columbia, Missouri, to raise funds to record her next studio album with esteemed producer and colleague, Dave Golden. Fans can still expect to see her pop her head out a few times, for weekend shows around the Midwest and in Columbia, and as a special guest to artists in the same areas.
