Alison Chesley (Poi Dog Pondering)
Born and raised in Los Angeles, Alison Chesley moved to Chicago to attend Northwestern University where she received a Master's Degree in Cello Performance in 1994. That same year, she formed the acoustic rock duo Jason and Alison with singer-songwriter Jason Narducy. The two later formed the band Verbow and went on to release two albums for Epic Records - Chronicles, produced by Bob Mould and White Out produced by Brad Wood. Opening for such bands as Live, Counting Crows, Liz Phair and Brad with Stone Gossard of Pearl Jam, Verbow received enthusiastic praise from critics including Timothy White of Billboard Magazine in his regular article “Music to My Ears”.
As a solo artist Alison appears on recordings with Disturbed and Bob Mould among others. As well as producing, writing and performing her own music for solo, amplified cello, she currently performs and records with Poi Dog Pondering, 8fatfat8 and Ink and Image Productions and is a member of Elastic Arts Foundation, a non-for-profit performance space and recording studio in Chicago.
