Inda Eaton
“Inda. Like Linda without the ‘L’.”
Inda Eaton got her start in music as a child in California and Arizona, trained in the art of classical piano and acoustic guitar. As a broadcast journalism student at Boston University in the late 80’s, her focus shifted from piano to the more portable guitar. She found a home playing in coffeehouses and on college staircases. From Boston, the troubadour traveled the globe, going from Latin America to Australia, ending up in a US military annex in Germany, serving her country…drinks that is. With four years of stories from in front of and behind the bar, Inda was ready to return to the states and embark on a music career but not before a trek trip through Africa. Despite a near death experience after contracting cerebral malaria, Inda’s determination to be a professional musician grew even stronger.
She recovered with family in Casper, Wyoming, where she met bluesman Spencer Bohren who would later produce Inda’s first album “thin fine line.” The album received a warm welcome in the folk world and took Inda on her first tour as a soloist. Two years later, Bohren and Inda hooked up again in New Orleans to record her third album, “Never Too Late to Fly.” (Inbetween, Inda produced her second album, “Seasons,” a CD of original piano compositions that served as the soundtrack for the popular child development video series entitled “Baby Steps.”) “Never Too Late to Fly”, which features members of the Subdudes and the Radiators, found a home on CMJ and alternative charts with hits like “Hey Lie” and “Woman in Me,” gaining critical acclaim in both the folk and rock world. It was nominated by AFIM for best independent album of 1998.
The album prompted 5 tours, including 2 corporate sponsored MWR tours throughout the US military communities and schools overseas, and stateside efforts that supported the CAPP Fund, Toys for Tots and Habitat for Humanity. Inda began forming her own band during this time and in 2000-2001, the group landed in Phoenix, Arizona, to record her fourth album, “Why the Desert.” Desert also received critical industry acclaim in publications such as Billboard and Relix and aligned her with tours in support of American Society of Young Musicians and VH1’s Save the Music program.
Inda is an accomplished acoustic rock singer-songwriter with a knack for creating crafty ‘hooks’, meaningful lyrics and killer harmonies that have won her a loyal fan base worldwide. She is skilled as a solo performer a |
