Jeremy Kittel is rapidly earning a reputation as one of the nation’s top young traditional musicians. Winner of the 200 US National Scottish Fiddle Championship and the Junior National Championship the previous two years, he also qualified for The All-Ireland four consecutive years. In March of 2003 Jeremy dazzled judges at the American String Teacher Association/ National Band and Orchestra Association Alternative Styles Competition, winning the Alfred Improvisation Award, Mark O’Connor Award of Merit and International Association for Jazz Education Award for Best Jazz Performance. In the past year Jeremy was awarded the Daniel Pearl Memorial Violin, performed with the Turtle Island String Quartet, won the 2004 Detroit Music Award for Outstanding Acoustic/Folk Instrumentalist, and graduated from the University of Michigan earning the School of Music’s highest honor, the Stanley Medal. Jeremy has performed at hundreds of concerts and festivals over the past five years including the Millennium Stage of the Kennedy Center, “A Prairie Home Companion,” Chicago Celtic Fest, Bethlehem Musikfest, Detroit Festival of the Arts & Milwaukee Irish Fest. His first CD was called “one of the top 20 Celtic albums of 2000, and certainly the best by a new young artist,” by the syndicated radio show Celtic Connections. His new release, Roaming, is getting rave reviews from a broad range of publications including Sing Out and Fiddler Magazine.
